My Napier collection is named after New Zealand’s small town, located on the east coast of the North Island in the Hawke Bay. It is best known for its dazzling art deco architecture. A terrible earthquake of 1931 destroyed almost all of Napier. Its reconstruction was just in the short-lived Art Deco era, so Napier’s architecture is distinctly different from other cities’ in the world.

As I was looking at the special façades of these buildings, jewelry motifs appeared to me. I used these motifs as a graphic element on the surfaces of my jewelry. With a special sandblasted technique, I can create a diverse graphic world where the shapes and depths of the designs are all unique. This creates a one-of-a-kind experience when the sun’s light penetrates the surface and it shines through the diamond. It projects the colors of the rainbow on the surface as if it were on a stretched movie screen. Wear your own colorful story on the Napier art deco façade!
