"To preserve the preservable"

It happened once that I had to save the broken beak of a Herend porcelain bird. Luckily I was able to save it. This is where my motto came from: ”To preserve the preservable”. This idea has always been in me. In my workshop I restore antique glass and antique porcelain items.

One day an elderly lady brought me a Zsolnay cup that was cracked. Unfortunately I could not save it, it broke into pieces. It felt as a personal tragedy. Then I thought I would create rings, earrings, and necklaces from some of its parts to let it live longer. In the past, these porcelain items were very valuable and sometimes were exchanged for land or horse carriages. I enjoy searching for very old porcelain pieces and damaged items in various antique stores. I immediately see the earrings, pendants, or other jewelry that I could make from them.

For example: Once upon a time Herendi bonbonniere’s cover, now is a medallion; the curved part of a cup serves as a bracelet, a broken coffee cup holder was made into a ring.
